I found these in my file recently. I shot the color (Kodachrome) photo for the first marketing brochure I did for Lebanon Valley College – my very first shoot for LVC, if I remember correctly. The folks in the college relations department liked it well enough to want to use the image for a full-page ad in Time, Newsweek and Business Week magazines. (The regional editions, but it was an honor for me in any case.)
We replicated the photo using different models, shooting in the daytime rather than night, but otherwise creating virtually the identical composition. I shot the ad with b/w film for reproduction quality, since the press run for this page would be black and white.
I still have the Time and Newsweek magazines (Time September 7, 1992) with the ad in them, and the brochure with the color photo. Funny to see those old DOS computer screens now, isn’t it?
